used when pt is unable to assist
if no equipment, 2+ caregivers are required
characteristics of a hydraulic lift
manually operated
uses valve on cylinder to control increase and release of pressure
base can be widened to narrowed
pts supported by sling
pts weight and amount the valve is opened determines the rate of descent
what is an electrical lift
uses rechargeable batteries/AC adapter to power the lift
