Thoracic/Lumbar ART/MET Flashcards
dynamic segmental motion testing for T1-T6
neutral: sphinx
flexion: sphinx with head down
extension: sphinx with head pulled back
what would indicate a flexion SD using dynamic segmental motion testing T1-T6
resistance to approximation
what would indicate an extension SD using dynamic segmental motion testing T1-T6
resistance to separation
what would indicate a flexion SD using positional diagnosis T1-T6
posterior TP becomes more posterior with extension and more symmetrical in flexion
what would indicate an extension SD using positional diagnosis T1-T6
posterior TP becomes more posterior with flexion and more symmetrical in extension
hand placement seated articulatory T1-T6 type 2 SD
thenar eminence on lateral aspect of TP
other hand controlling patient’s head to engage RB
physician placement in MET seated T1-T6 type 2 SD
ispilateral to PTP
one hand claw on PTP, other hand on head
physician placement in MET seated T1-T6 type 1 SD
knee is on table ipsilateral to the PTP and contralateral to where you want the pt to sidebend
- hand claw on PTP, other hand on head
hand placement for ART seated lower thoracic SD extension/flexion type 2 SD
stabilize the vertebral segment BELOW the SD by grasping spinous process with index finger and thumb
hand placement for ART thoracic sidebending prone
caudad hand –> contralateral to you, ipsilateral to PTP
cephalad hand –> ipsilateral to you, contralateral to PTP
patient position for lumbar ART sidebending lateral recumbent
patient lies on side of SD
if sidebent right, patient lies on right side
