Q

Describe the Phonological Loop

A
  • a slave system
  • deals with auditory information
  • mainly an acoustic store
  • has a limited capacity of 2 seconds
  • has two main purposes (phonological store and articulatory process)

phonological store = stores info you hear
articulatory store= allows maintenance rehearsal

Q

Describe the episodic buffer.

A
  • the thirst slave system added by Baddeley
  • links info across the other slave systems
  • acts as an extra storage space for visual and acoustic information
