What was the Hitler Myth?
A
Propaganda depicting Hitler as Germany’s saviour. Hitler was seen as responsible for all of the good things in Germany and a banisher of the bad.

What was the Hitler Myth supposed to do?
A
Increase Hitler’s popularity and so sustain Hitler’s success. Also meant to satisfy people’s emotional need for a strong authoritarian leader.

What negative consequences were as a result of the myth?
A
Hitler became a victim of his own myth as he started to believe in the propaganda around 1941 and the country suffered many military failures.

A
Behind the scenes there was chaos - “biggest confusion in government”.
