Why was there slight disagreements between Churchill and Stalin
- Churchill had supported Bolshevik enemies and was suspicious of Stalin
- Britain wanted Poland to be independent however Stalin wanted soviet control in order to prevent any further attacks

- in April 1945 Roosevelt died, Truman replaced him

1945 July- 3rd conference
1.- Germany and Berlin divided into four zones (soviet zone in the east, other zones in the west)
2.- Germany is demilitarized
3.- democracy reestablished in Germany (free elections, speech and press)
4.- Germany to pay reparations majority going to the Soviet Union ( quarter of industrial goods)
5.- Nazi party banned and put on trial at Nuremberg
6.- UN organized
7.- Poland frontier moved westwards
When was the Potsdam conference and what where the disagreements ?
1945- July
- leaders couldn’t reach agreements over what to do with Germany as Truman saw it as a frontier against soviet expansion yet Stalin was angry about the soviet loss of life caused by German aggression
- Truman wanted free elections for soviet occupied countries however Stalin refused which angered Truman
