The brain stem has a nuclei of grey matter that bedded in its white matter.
What are the survival behaviours produced by the brain stem?
The behaviours are automatic and highly controlled, these include the controlled flow of messages between brain and the rest of the body, breathing, swallowing, heart rebate, blood pressure, consciousness and it controls the wake/ sleep cycle.
How do upper and lower neural centres communicate?
The brain stem creates pathways for fibre tracts that connect the higher and lower neural centres.
What else is the brain stem nuclei linked to?
The Brain stem nuclei are also linked to 10 pairs of cranial nerves and is involved with inner actions.
