Driving through Malibu he noticed two female hitchhikers, picked them up and dropped them off. Again noticed them a different time, this time taking them to his house. After he left and came back Charles Manson was in his driveway, and a dozen people were in his home (most female). Denny became fascinated with Manson and his followers. The “Manson Family” lived with Denny for a period afterward. Denny introduced people in the music industry to Manson b/c of Manson’s songwriting ability (which Denny was impressed by) one of which (Sharon Tate) was lter murdered by Manson. Manson held recording sessions at Brian’s house. As Denny became aware of Manson’s volatile and violent nature, he broke the friendship by moving out of the house. Manson left a bullet with the housekeeper to be delivered as a message afterwards.
