It’s believed that originally the land was very flat, and remained so, until the giant Rainbow Serpent slid across the landscape constructing mountains, deep gorges, rivers and valleys.

The movement of the plates is known as the theory of continental drift. Scientists believe that about 225 million years ago all the continents were joined. Since then they have broken up and moved apart to form the continents we know today.
