What impact did the IRA’s campaign against the RIC have in the first half of 1920?

Destruction of 16 defended barracks, damage to a further 29 and the burning down of 424 abandoned buildings
- Many RIC members lefts rather than endure the hatred of the local population
- In response to this, the British government recruited the Black and Tans

Eg killed 18 auxiliary officers at kilmichael in November 1920

- IRA gunmen killed 12 British intelligence officers plus 2 auxiliaries, in response auxiliaries killed 12 civilians at crime park later that day
