Q

What is the Ribosomes?

A

It is the cell protein factories, with ribosomes both bonded ER and free. They read mRNA and translate that genetic code into a specified string of amino acids, which grow to form proteins.

Q

What is a Prokaryotic cell?

A

Prokaryotic cells are uni-celled organisms. They contain a cell wall, cytoplasm, ribosomes, and DNA, but do not have a nucleus or other organelles.

What is a Eukaryotic cell?

A

Eukaryotic cells are complex cells found in organisms from the domains Eukarya, which include animals, plants, fungi, and protists.
All eukaryotic cells contain:
○ Nucleus
○ Nucleolus
○ Cytoplasm
○ Mitochondria
○ Golgi apparatus

Q

What is the base structure of all cells?

A
  1. Membrane
    ○ Houses the cell, and controls the movement of substances into and out of the cell
    1. Cytoplasm
      ○ The fluid inside a cell, made of mostly water. Contains organelles.
    2. Genetic material (DNA)
