Taxonomy Flashcards
Pteridophyta
vascular parts that have true toots, stems and leaves, reproduction is by spores, alternation of generations, it has no seeds or flowers, and uses water for fertilization
Bryophyta characteristics
Are non-vascular plants, small sized, reproduction via spores, lack true roots, stem, leaves, flowers, and seed. Water dependance for fertilization
What are rhizoids?
Anchor the plant and help with water absorption
Gymnosperm characteristics
Are vascular plants that does not produce seeds enclosed in a fruit. Produce cones or strobili, typically woody plant, alternation of generations, the leaves are needle-like and primarily wind-pollinated
Life cycle of a gymnosperm alternates between?
Diploid sporophyte and haploid gametophyte
Angiosperms characteristics
Contains male and female reproductive parts. Seeds are protected inside a fruit, also a vascular plants. Pollination is mostly by insects, birds, bats, or wind. Double fertilization
Angiosperm’s double fertilization results in?
results in the formation of both the embryo and endosperm
