What is a tactical withdrawal?
The removal of personnel from a specific area of potential danger in a safe and planned manner.
Who can initiate a tactical withdrawal?
Anyone can if unsafe conditions are detected and there is not enough time to pass information through the command structure but the IC must be informed as soon as possible. A tactical withdrawal will normally be implemented by the IC, Operations commander, Sector commander or Safety officer.
What actions can initiate an Emergency evacuation?
- Repeated blasts on the Acme Thunderer whistle.
- BA teams evacuated via the telemetry entry control
board (evacuate all function). - By Radio
- A BA emergency team maybe committed if it is not
not possible to contact a BA team(s).
Upon hearing the evacuation signal personnel will if possible?
- Repeat the signal.
- Withdraw from the scene of operations.
- Assemble at the booking in point i.e. ICP or CU.
What tactical mode will be sent whilst crews are evacuating?
Tactical mode Oscar until all personnel are removed from the identified hazard area.
What follows an emergency evacuation?
A Roll call.
When should a firefighter emergency be sent?
Whenever fire service personnel are unaccounted for at in incident and / or are in need of rescue.
What priority message should be sent for Firefighter emergency?
From (Name of IC) at (address) Firefighter Emergency, Tactical mode Oscar.
What is the additional attendance for FFE?
- 6 Pumps (inc 3 PL with WM’s)
- 2 Fire Rescue Units (FRU)
- Fire Investigation Unit (FIU)
- Command Unit (CU)
- An Ambulance
- Press Liaison Officer (PLO)
- Fire Safety Officer (FSO)
- 3 Station Managers
- Group Manager
- Deputy Assistant Commissioner
- Senior Accident Investigator (SAI)
Would a 4 pump fire with a FFE now become a 10 pump fire?
No the FFE has its own PDA so the incident would still be a 4 pump fire.
