What is “no poverty”?
This goal aims to eradicate extreme poverty for all people and also to ensure everyone has equal rights and access to appropriate social protection systems and essential services.
Build resistance and reduce vulnerability to such situations.
Why is “no poverty” important?
- Poverty results in high rates of morbidity and mortality
- more likely to experience discrimination and exclusion
- deprived from food, shelter, healthcare and education.
What is “Zero hunger”?
This goal aims to end all forms of hunger and malnutrition by ensuring all people have access to safe nutritious food all year round. It also aims to improve sustainable agricultural productivity and trade restrictions.
Why is “Zero hunger” important?
- high mortality rates especially in children
- high levels of illnesses such as diarrhoea, malaria and measles
- children become too unwell to attend school and work therefore contributing to the poverty cycle
