Structural Organization Flashcards
What are the cells?
The smallest living structures in our bodies
What is the structural organization of the human body?
- Cells
- Tissues
- Organs
- Body systems
- The human body
What are the tissues?
Cells with similar functions grouped together
What are the organs?
Two or more types of tissues combined to work together
What is the body systems?
Two more organs that provide major body functions (nervous, respirator, urinary, digestive, circulatory)
What are cells made out of?
- Cell membrane
- Cytoplasm
- Organelles
What does the cell membrane do?
Controls what goes in and out of the the cell
What is the cytoplasm?
Gel like substance that keeps the organelles in place and that contains lipids, carbohydrates, waters, proteins and salts
What types of organelles are the here’re?
- Nucleus
- Mitochondria
- Lysosomes
- ribosomes
- Golgi apparatus
- Centrioles
- Endoplasmic Reticulum
- Vacuole
What does the nucleus do?
Controls the cell
Holds genetic information
Has 23 chromosomes for reproduction
What does the mitochondria do?
The power house of the cell
What does the lysosomes do?
Has enzymes to breakdown molecules
What does the ribosomes do?
Produce proteins
What does the Golgi apparatus do?
Proud and stores and packages products to cell
What are centrioles?
Play in division of cell
