Stomata Flashcards
What happens if a plant loses too much water?
The leaves will wilt if this happens for a long time then the operant wont be able to photosynthesise and will die
Stomata are open at
Day time too get carb in dioxide in four photosynthesis
Stomata are closed at
Night - no light means that there is no photosynthesis sob the plant does not need to let co2 in
Observations from nail varnish practical
There were stigmata on the upper and lower surfaces of the leaf but lots more in the underside if the leaf
Can you suggest how leaves are adapted for quick diffusion of carbon dioxide to reach all cells for photosynthesis?
1 lots if stomata to let co 2 in and water and oxygen out
2 leaves are thin so there is a small distance fir them to diffuse over
3 there are air spaces inside the leaf - gases diffuse faster in the air than they do straight through cells
