Whole set of items that are of interest
What is a census?
Observes every member of the population
What is a sample?
Selection of observations taken from a subset of the population
What is the formula for coding?
y= (x-a)/b
What is the mean of a coded sample?
mean of y= (mean of x - a)/b
What is the standard deviation of a coded sample?
sd of coded data= sd of original data/ b
What is required for a binomial distribution?
-fixed number of trials
-two possible outcomes
-fixed probability of success
-trials are independent of each other
