2.3-understand the importance of safeguarding by actively looking for signs of abuse, demonstrating understanding of relevant safeguarding processes and engaging in these processes where necessary

2.11- recognise the power imbalance which comes with being a health care professional and ensure they do not abuse this for personal gain
How has standard 2.2 changed?
From “understand need to act in the best interests of service users at all times” to “promote and protect the service users interests at all times”
How has standard 2.4 changed?
Addition of “including but not limited to the standards of conduct, performance, and ethics”
How has standard 2.5 changed?
Removed “understand the need to” and “and in maintaining health and wellbeing” for addition of understanding their role in “assessment” diagnostic, “treatment” and “/ or” therapeutic process”

Changed service users, to “service users, carers, and others”.
Changed “even in situations of personal incompatibility” to “in all circumstances”

Changed to “obtain valid consent, which is voluntary and informed, has due regard to capacity, is proportionate to circumstances and is appropriately documented”

Changed “be able to exercise”, to “understand the scope of” a professional duty of care and “exercise that duty”
How has standard 2.10 changed?
Changed from “know about current legislation applicable to the work of their profession” to understand and apply legislation, policies, and guidance relevant to profession and scope of practice.

Removed be aware of to “demonstrate awareness” of British, European and international standards that govern and affect pathology lab practice
