During the Setup portion of the standup, what kind of questions should you be asking?
Ask as many specific questions as possible to fill out all information in the card, even if it may not seem initially relevant.
In addition to all information on the top portion of the card, confirm the flight profile.
Were you performing maneuvers in the area?
Based on maneuvers and your current location, what do you EXPECT your heading and altitude to be (if not given)?
Be rigorous with set up questions!
What must you say at attention during the stand up?
Sir, I will maintain aircraft control, analyze the situation and take proper action, and land as soon as conditions permit.
Any and all bold face
What should you do if you expect an engine issue from the indications given?
TCCC - (BIP).
Be cautious, before explaining HOW you would TCCC, double check the current aircraft configuration, maneuver, airspeed, etc… That affects HOW you TCCC
When boldface applies, what do you do?
State: “Boldface applies. Boldface is____”
Then explain how you would execute the BF, for example engine fire:
“I will place my left hand on the PCL. With my left middle finger, I will push down the PCL finger cutoff guard and lift the cutoff gate. I will then move the PCL to the off position with my left hand with a backward motion. Following that, I will reach behind me with my left hand and lift the Firewall shutoff handle guard. After lift the guard, I will pull the firewall shutoff handle up”….
