What are your EEO resposibilities as a supervisor?

A

Define: Equal Employment Opportunity means the right of all people to work, to be treated equally and fairly, and to advance on the basis of ability and potential without regard to any of the protected groups such as race, color, sex, national origin, religion to name a few.

LADWP has a Zero Tolerance Policy Standard; which means the Department prohibits any action related to a protected class that reasonably may be interpreted as discrimination, harassment, or retaliation.

As a Supervisor I want to ensure that all of my staff knows and understands EEO. I will have the EEO Law posted in the workplace.
Provide employee development and assistance, inform of tuition reimbursement if they continue their education, inform all employees of available training opportunities.
Help employees to grow by mentoring, and being available for them for mock interview, and interview preparation.
Make sure the employees have the tools and resources to complete the job efficiently
Make fair decisions, and give rewarding assignments
If any complaints are made, show open support, review complaint and assist in the investigation, get all the facts together, and document everything. I would notify my immediate manager and the EEO office for further assistance.
