How does spermatogenesis start
with a spermatogonium (stem cell) [46] chromosomes
What does the spermatogonium do
DNA replication, [92]. Then Mitosis will occur, 2 identical cells will be made. Leave one behind and the other one will become the primary spermatocyte [46]
What does the primary spermatocyte [46] do
Dna Replication. [92] Then it goes through meiosis 1 to become 2 secondary spermatocytes. (this involves prophase 1 -crossing over and metaphase 1- independent assortment causing genetic variation)
The two secondary spermatocytes [46 each] go through….
Meiosis 2. To become 4 spermatids with 23 chromosomes each.
What do the spermatids go through
spermiogeneisis. Where they are remodelled to look like sperm with tails and head and acrosomal cap
What is the last step
The spermiation stage were the spermatozoa lose attachment to the seroli cells and enter the lumen
