100km/h
Signs that affect the speed limit is wat?
There are signs that can affect the speed limit, they tell you the fastest speed you’re allowed to drive in that area. Make sure to look for them!
Signs that affect the speed limit include:
Compulsory speed limit signs
Open road signs
School zone signs
School bus signs
Incident and emergency warning signs
Here is an example of a compulsory speed limit sign, it means you can’t drive faster than 40km/h in this area.
40km/h
Driving for the conditions
If driving conditions are poor, you may need to drive below the speed limit.
Poor conditions could include any of these:
heavy rain
lots of traffic
roads with lots of bends.
Driving below the speed limit
You can drive at any speed below the limit. There’s no minimum speed.
But when you are driving below the speed limit, you should try not to hold up other traffic.
If vehicles are queueing up behind you, you should keep as close as you can to the left side of the road. As soon as it’s safe, you should pull over to let following vehicles pass.
Going from one speed zone to another
The speed limit changes as soon as you get to the signpost – not before or after.
When you’re moving into a lower speed zone, you must slow down before you pass the sign.
If you’re moving into a higher speed zone, you must not speed up till you’ve passed the speed sign.
