SMA Flashcards
What are the branches of the SMA?
intestestinal arteries inferior pancreaticoduodenal inferior pancreatic artery middle colic right colic ileocolic (terminal branch)
What is the route of the SMA?
root of mesentery to root of iliocecal junction
What does the intestinal arteries supply?
jejunum
ileum
What does the inferior pancreaticoduodenal supply?
Branches into the anterior inferior and posterior inferior to the head of the pancreas
anastomose with superior pancreaticoduodenal arteries
Where does the intestinal arteries run?
passes between two layers of mesentery
What does the middle colic supply?
transverse colon
What does the right colic supply?
ascending colon
what does the ileocolic artery supply?
ileum
cecum
ascending
What are the branches of the ileocolic artery?
Appendicular artery
What does the middle colic split into?
enters transverse colon splits into:
Right branch - anastomose with right colic artery
left branch - anastomose with left colic (forms marginal artery on transverse colon)
What is the marginal artery?
anastomose of the left branch of the middle colic and ascending branch of left colic to form on the transverse colon
What does the right colic split into?
ascending and descending branches supplying the ascending colon
What are the branches of the inferior pancreatic artery?
Dorsal pancreactic artery
great pancreatic artery
caudal pancreatic artery
how are the branches of the inferior pancreatic artery are formed?
by an anastomose between the splenic artery
what does the caudal artery supply?
tail of pancreas
