How to describe the distribution of a place?

A

Firstly, there are three different types of maps: World map, country map and localised map.
World map: Specific: Continent, Region (Bearing, orientation) N/S/E/W, Countries
Country map, Localised map (Bearing/orientation)
Concentrated sparsely or largely concentrated where? Mainly concentrated in east side of … for e.g.

General statement/pattern: unevenly distributed(Usually) / Evenly distributed
Describe the specific patterns: Mostly concentrated in … NE? SE?NW? SW? Of the place (specify)
Specific Info: Names, numbers (highest vs lowest), commonality like there are how many slums in the north east, how many in the north west… etc. located between…. And ….

How to describe the location of a place?

A

The location of X is at the northwest of the place Y…(LARGER scale) in between what and what. It is to the east of the … and to the west of the…. Describe the environment and amenities present around. (Smaller scale)+ Landmarks & Features, Direction & distance

Write the format to answer this kind of question regarding comparison of graph.

For e.g.
Similarity:
General:
From 1950 to 1990, both rural and urban populations increase (1m)
Specific:
Rural population increased from 500 millions to 850 Millions (0.5m)
Urban population increased from 50 millions to 350 millions (0.5m)

Difference:
General:From 1990 to 2050, rural population decreased while urban population increased (1m)

Specific:
Rural population decreased from 850millions to 400 millions (0.5m)
Urban population increased form 350 millions to 1050 millions (0.5m)

Observation MUST DISCUSS CHANGE, NOT JUST ONE SPECIFIC POINT IN TIME

How do you read a compound graph?

A

The compound graph is accumulative and “stack up”. So for e.g. the red part of a graph is from 0 to 1000 while the blue part is from 1000 to 3000, what is the blue part value? The ans is 3000-1000=2000 because you ignore the red part and only look at the blue part
