Pectoralis major:
Chest & Abdomen - attaches from clavicle & sternum to humerus
Rectus abdominis:
Chest & Abdomen - “Abs” “Six Pack”
Internal and external obliques:
Chest & Abdomen -internal is under external obliques
-external is side & front of abdomen
Deltoid:
Arm - attaches from scapula, acromion and clavicle to humerus (front, top and back)
Biceps brachii:
Arm - scapula to radius
Triceps brachii:
Arm - 3 heads of origin
Flexor carpi muscle:
Arm - decrease wrist angle
Extensor carpi muscle:
Arm - increase wrist angle
Gluteus maximus:
Legs - ilium (pelvis) to femur
“the glutes”
Piriformis:
Legs - sacrum to femur (sciatic nerve runs through middle)
Hamstring:
Legs - 3 separate muscles in posterior thigh
Rectus femoris:
Legs - pelvis to tibia.
Flexes hip to extend knee - Kicking a football
- one of four quads anterior thigh
Thigh adductors:
Legs - pubis to femur
Tibialis anterior:
Legs - tibia to metatarsals
- anterior tibia
Soleus
Legs - tibia & fibula to calcaneum (heel)
- deeper in calf than gastrocnemius
Gastrocnemius
Legs - femur to calcaneum (heel)
