Spindle that holds the spool of thread

Holds the upper thread in position

Moves the needle and take-up lever up and down. Always turn towards you
Hand wheel
Winds the bobbin
Bobbin winder, spindle, switch and tension disc
Stops the needle from moving up and down when winding the bobbin
Coupling wheel
Regulates the amount of upper thread used. Controls the tightness of the stitches
Upper tension
Takes up the excess thread
Take-up lever
Pushes and pulls the thread through the fabric for stitching
Needle
Holds the fabric on the feed dog
Presser foot
Raises and lowers the presser foot
Presser foot lever
Moves the fabric as it is being stitched
Feed dog
Holds the bobbin which supplies the bottom thread to make a complete stitch with the upper thread
Bobbin case
Determines the length of the stitches
Stitch length selector
Makes it possible to sew in reverse direction. A backstitch is done to knot the threads
