A
- The arrangements of the national government into separate branches of government with independent powers.
- So 3 branches have to share powers
- Refers to the design of the Constitution
- 3 branches are judicial (Supreme Court), executive (President) , and legislature (Congress).

- The separation of power in a democracy is to prevent abuse of power and protect civil liberties of the people.
- Expel presidents that are in scandals
- Ensures that executive power do not over step bounds on people.

A
- Is how the powers are implemented
- Set up for a system based regulation that has one branch to limit the power of another branch.

What is Congress and what role do they play in Check in Balances?
A
- Congress is made up of House of Representatives and Senate
- Congress has the power:
- ->to over ride presidents veto
- ->remove judicial/executive powers (impeachment)
- ->Advise and Consent power

- The President has to consult the U.S. senate on:
- -> approved treaties
- ->Appointment to public position by the president

- President has power:
- -> to veto laws by Congress
- ->Can appoint all levels of positions to courts
- ->Makes appointments to federal judiciary, federal executive (With the advice and consent of Senate)
