156 students at a US university were paired into two person dyads and they engaged in a self disclosure task over skype. there was the reciprocal condition and non-reciprocal condition and the researchers assessed closeness, similarity and enjoyment of the interactions.

Individuals in the reciprocal conditions reported more liking, similarity and closeness than those in the non-reciprocal conditions.
