Q

How are chemical rocks formed?

A

when the sediments are made of fragments of pre-existing rock that can easily be seen with the naked eye.

Q

How are biogenic(organic) rocks formed?

A

Organic sedimentary rocks form when the broken up remains of once living organisms are cemented together. These rocks often have layers.

Q

How are clastic rocks formed?

A

Pieces of rock are loosened by weathering, then transported to some basin or depression where the sediment is trapped. If the sediment is buried deeply, it becomes compacted and cemented, forming sedimentary rock.

Q

What is the texture of clastic rocks?

A

Clastic rocks and be large-grained or fine-grained. Large-grained clastic rocks usually have chunks 2mm in size or more.
Fine-grained clastic rocks are usually made up of small sediments like sand, and feel smooth.
