Seal Oil Flashcards
When will standby seal oil pump start? (AC and DC pumps)
Standby AC pump < 10 psid
DC pump < 5 psid
What’s the purpose of seal oil?
Keep hydrogen IN and keep air OUT of the main generator.
Lubricate and cool generator shaft seal
What pressure is seal oil maintained at?
15 psig above hydrogen pressure (normal 90 psig, hydrogen is 75 psig)
What is the purpose of the prechambers?
Collect and degas the hydrogen side seal oil exiting the seal (defoam)
What’s the purpose of the hydrogen side drain regulator tank?
Keeps hydrogen in generator and prevents hydrogen from entering hydrogen degassing storage tank
What level is hydrogen side drain regulator tank maintained at?
-10” to 10”
What’s the purpose of the recirculation oil?
Removes heat and cools seal rings and returns to degassing storage tank
When will the recirculating solenoid close?
Alarm @ 5 psid close @ 1.5 psid between hydrogen gas and recirc line
What’s the purpose of the degassing storage tank?
Final degassing and net positive suction head for seal oil pump
what are the power supplies for the seal oil pumps?
A - 13
B - 12
C - DC (1DF1)
What pressure will the back pressure regulating valves maintain?
162 psig
What pressure will the back up back pressure regulating valves maintain?
170 psig
What pressure will the RELIEF back pressure regulating valves maintain?
220 psig
What pressure does the main pressure regulating valve control supply seal pressure at?
15 psi above hydrogen generator pressure
What pressure does the backup pressure regulating valve control supply pressure at?
12 psi above hydrogen generator pressure
