SE Flashcards
What is qualitative data?
Observations using sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. (Usually descriptive)
What is quantitative data?
Numerical quantities which are typically measurements taken using instruments.
If we burn/ scald ourselves touching a hot surface/ hot water
we will immediately place the affected area under running tap water and report the incident to my teacher.
If we spill chemicals on our hands or splash chemicals into our eyes
we will immediately place the affected area under running tap water (for eyes, use the emergency eyewash) and report the incident to my teacher.
Function of test tube
For holding small amounts of chemicals for heating and mixing liquids
Function of beaker
For containing chemicals for heating and collecting and holding liquids
Function of boiling tube
For containing chemicals for heating and collecting and holding of liquids
Function of conical flask
For containing and mixing chemicals when heating is not required
Function of round-bottomed flask
For containing chemicals when heating is required
Function of evaporating dish
To evaporate off a liquid in a solution over a Bunsen burner
Function of crucible
To hold small amounts of chemicals when heating at high temperatures. The lid prevents anything from escaping and keeps oxygen out of the reaction
Function of measuring cylinder
To measure a volume of liquid accurately
Function of displacement can
To collect water in a beaker to see how much water was displaced when an object is placed in it
Function of filter funnel
For transferring liquids to containers with a small opening and separating solids from liquids using filter paper
Function of retort stand
Support apparatus during an experiment
