What conflict resulted in the creation
of our country?
Delegates from the 13 American colonies agreed to
sign the Declaration of Independence to
fight against British rule on July 4,
1776. After the American Revolution was won, the
13 American states formed a confederation under
the Articles of Confederation.
What domestic conflict caused the death of
more American lives than any other war in our
history?
The American Civil War. The states
seceded from the U.S. to form their own country called
The Confederate States of America and attacked the U.S. with
Rebel troops. President Lincoln led the Yankee
troops to keep the US together. This war was fought from
1861-1865.
Conflict: World War I
Events: After Germany sank the ship Lusitania with many
Americans on board, the U.S. entered the war and fought
with the Allied Forces. The enemy was the
made up of Germany, Austria-
Hungary and Italy. The 6 _________________ won in 1918.
After the War, President Wilson failed to persuade Congress
that the U.S. should join the League of Nations, because most
Americans wanted to follow the doctrine of isolationism.

On December 7, 1941, Japanese planes surprise

Japanese-Americans were relocated to live in these areas to be supervised during WW2 as potential spies. Millions of European Jews (and others) were mass-murdered by the Nazis in death
camps.

After World War II, the Communist Soviet Union declared that
democracy and capitalism were an evil which had to be wiped off the

Conflict: The Cuban Missile Crisis

of Vietnam became communist, the U.S. ultimately

Conflict: The Iran Hostage Crisis
The Ayatollah Khomeini encouraged a protest against the
U.S., which resulted in the taking of 66 hostages from the U.S.
