Enzymes?

A

Enzymes are a cruical part of the digestive system, they break the bonds between amino acids freeing them for absorption and into your blood stream, this works best in acidic conditions.

20
Q

Small Intestine?

A

Nutralises food

21
Q

How is the oesophagus adapted?

A

The oesophagus is a long tube the means all the food can get down your throat easily and quickly

22
Q

How is the stomach adapted?

A

The stomach is adapted for the acids so they can kill all the bad bacteria

How is the small intestine adapted?

A

The small intestine looks like it is shrivelled up, this is because it makes it easier for the bile to nuetralise the food

24
Q

Different types of enzyme

A

Amylase
Protease
Lipise

25
Q

Amylase?

A

Breaks down starch and digests carbohydrates

26
Q

Protease?

A

Breaks down protein, digests amino acids

27
Q

Lipise?

A

Breaks down fats/lipids, digests fatty acids and glycerol
