Sci - Chapter 1 Flashcards
What is Qualitative data?
Qualitative data is to visualise an unknown object or learn about its characteristics to describe it. (e.g., colour, sound, odour, texture & taste)
What is Quantitative data?
Quantitative data measures the numerical quantities of an object.
What is the SI unit of volume, mass, time, length and temp?
cubic metre (m3), kilograms (kg), seconds (s), metre (m) and kelvin (K).
What is accurate?
Accurate is when the measurement of the reading is very close to or the same as the true value.
What is zero error?
Zero error is a type of error which an instrument gives a non-zero reading when the measured quantity should be zero.
What is parallax error?
Parallax error is introduced into a measurement when the marking on an instrument is viewed from the wrong angle.
What is precise?
Precise is when the measurements taken has multiple readings very close to one another or the same.
