1
Q

What do we do when we want our sample statistics to be much closer to the population parameters?

=> collect more data
=> increase sample size

Q

How does sampling error occur?

A
  • because a sample is a subset of the population => may not precisely represent it

Q

Population distribution vs Sampling distribution

A

Sampling distribution: random samples taken from population
- smaller spread
-less variability
- averages are less variable than individual observations

Q

So what is sampling distribution (of sample means)?

A
  • a distribution or plot of the sample statistics
    (repeatedly taking samples from the same population)
    => gives u idea of how a statistic behaves

Q

How to reduce sampling error?

A

1) increase sample size
- reduce impact of pop. variation

2) Divide population into groups
- according to their size

3) Know your population
- ensure only target the sample that matters
