apparatus strikes or is struck by VEHICLE, PEDESTRIAN, BICYCLIST

STRIKES A FIXED OBJECT
MAJOR COLLISION…(nearest available DC will respond)
- significant damage to Dept. or civilian vehicle
- significant damage to private property
- life threatening injury or death to civilian or member
INCIDENT…
NOT a collision
- apparatus fire
- damage to apparatus caused by unusual occurrence (tree limb falls on apparatus
- damaged discovered during routine inspection
- damage to civilian vehicle caused by properly parked apparatus operating at alarms, inspection , MUD (outrigger strikes parked car)
- properly parked apparatus STRUCK by another apparatus (INCIDENT FOR APPARATUS STRUCK/ COLLISION FOR APPARATUS STRIKING)

Who determines if the collision is MAJOR?
BC
FOC-1…
BC responsible for conducting investigation should email FOC-1, followed by phone call to FDOC
Cases where BC was not dispatched for an investigation(out of city/fire civilian incident(not requested)..
preparer of CD-19 (OFFICER) will contact FDOC with particulars
Fire/Civilian accident BC responds if REQUESTED
FIRE/FIRE–automatic BC response
MAJOR collisions, DO NOT move vehicles…except..
- to PREVENT additional collisions and or injuries at a collision scene
- fact that ONE lane of traffic is blocked does NOT warrant moving vehicles
