A

Define confounding variable

A

A type of EV but a CV varies systematically with the IV. Therefore, we can’t tell if any change in the DV is due to the IV or the CV.

What are demand characteristics?

A

Any cue from the researcher or situation that maybe interpreted by ppt’s as revealing the purpose of the investigation. This may lead to a ppt changing their behaviour within the research situation

What are investigator effects?

A

Any effect of the investigators behaviour (conscious or unconscious) on the research outcome or the DV. This may include everything or from the design of the study to the selection of and interaction with ppts

A
