What are testes and how many of them are there?
There are two testes and are kept in a bag called the scrotum. They produce sperm and the male sex hormones
What are glands? And which is the main gland in the male reproductive system?
The main gland in the male reproductive system is the prostate gland. They produce nutrients to help keep sperm alive, the nutrients are semen
What are sperm ducts? And what are there functions?
Sperm ducts are tubes that carry sperm from the testes to the penis
What is the urethra?
The urethra is a tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body, or sperm from the sperm duct.
What is the penis?
The penis carries urine of semen out of the body. The penis swells with blood and stiffens. This is known as an erection and allows the male to release sperm during sexual intercourse. The bladder can not empty whilst the man has an erection.
What are ovaries?
Ovaries contain egg cells. One is released each month
What are oviducts (egg tubes)?
They carry an egg to the uterus
What is the uterus (womb)?
Where the egg cell develops into a baby
What is the cervix?
A ring of muscle at the entrance of the uterus, it keeps the baby in place whilst the woman is pregnant.
What is the vagina?
The vagina receives sperm during intercourse, this is where the males penis enters the woman’s body.
What is the urethra (female)?
The urethra carries urine from the bladder out of the body.
What is the name for the part of the sex cells where the genetic material (chromosomes) are located?
The name is the nucleus.
