Renal Cell Carcinoma Flashcards
What is the structure of nephron that takes origin of RCC
-PCT
What is the most common type of RCC
-clear cell adenocarcinoma
What is the risk of RCC
-old age (60)
-male
-smoker and obesity
What is the most associated genetic syndrome in clear cell carcinoma
-VHL
-due to deletion of chromosome 3
What is the most associated genetic syndrome in papillary (chromophilic) carcinoma
-MET
-due to duplication of chromosome 7 and 17
What are the classical triad of RCC
-hematuria
-flank pain
-palpable flank mass
What are the complication of RCC
-intentional weight loss
-left sided varicocele (poor diagnosis)
-metastasis
What is the gross picture of
RCC
-well demarcated
-usually in the upper pole
What is the microscopic picture of
RCC
-polygonal cell with clear cytoplasm and clear nuclei
What is the typical colour of the clear cell RCC
-golden brown
-due to lipid and fat accumulation
Patient with a case of benign renal cancer with brown colour with well circumscribed mass with central scar. In microscopic, mainly acidophilic due to rich in mitochondria with no perinuclear clearing
-benign oncytoma
-in case of chromophobe RCC, it has perinuclear clearing
What are the types of bladder cancer
-transitional cell carcinoma (the most common)
-squamous cell carcinoma
What is the most common type of bladder cancer
-transitional cell carcinoma
What are the causes of TCC
SAC
-smoking
-aromatic
-cyclophosphomide
What are the causes of SCC of bladder
-schistosoma haematobium
-chronic cystitis
-smoking
