Recombinant Plants and Animals Flashcards
1
Q
Codon bias
A
Humans have bias over codons they want to use compared to plants or other organisms
i.e. E Coli might prefer CCC to CCG, mutating codon to CCC would result in higher expression
2
Q
Inclusion Bodies
A
Prevents proteins from folding properly
Solution- fold protein isolated from inclusion bodies
3
Q
Forward Genetics
A
Begins with mutant phenotype and attempts to identify the mutant gene responsible for the phenotype
4
Q
Reverse Genetics:
A
• Begins with a gene and attempts to identify its function by mutating it, and looking for a change in phenotype
i..e Knock out
5
Q
T-DNA Insertions
A
Collection of transgenic plants with genes disrupted due to T-DNA insertions
