Random Access Memory (RAM)
A
Volatile memory that gets erased when the power switches off. It can not store data permanently.
Executable data and instruction are stored in RAM.
Fast access
Example: static ram, dynamic ram

Read Only Memory (ROM)
A
Non volatile memory that remains intact even when power is switched off.
Microprocessor read from it any time it wants but cannot write on it.
Slow access
Example: CD-ROM/ DVD
