Quiz 4 Practice Flashcards
Normal sensory fusion requires what to be present?
Adequate retinal image quality, normal accommodation (or adequate compensating lenses), and adequate vergence function.
What tests can be used to verify whether stereopsis is present?
Random dot (global), Titmus/Wirt stereo test (local)
What test can be used to verify whether flat fusion and superimposition are present?
The Worth dot test. If lustre is present, flat fusion and superimposition are demonstrated. If lustre is not present but all four dots are present, superimposition is demonstrated, as is central suppression of one eye.
What can be used to demonstrate simultaneous perception?
Stereoscope tests, vertical prism diplopia, heterophoria measurement in a stereoscope.
What is anomalous sensory correspondence?
It occurs due to long-standing constant strabismus. The cells of the visual cortex are functionally rearranged so that the foveas of the two eyes no longer correspond to the same point in visual space.
