Participants provide responses in a numerical format or responses can easily be collated into numerical format.

A
Non-numerical data. Participants provide explanations for their thoughts, beliefs and behaviour.

A
Through methods of observation, one-to-one interviews, conducting focus groups, and similar methods.

- Reliable
- Easy to compare
- Statistics can analyse large groups

- Reductionist (lacks in-depth detail about why people believe or behave the way they do)
