What is quality assurance?
It is quality management to ensure that manufactured products are guaranteed to be of the correct standard as defined in the specification
What is quality control?
Much more specific, usually involves some kind of tests and checks that are made at critical points during manufacturing to monitor products to ensure they meet relevant standards for a safe, well-made product.
Why is Quality Assurance needed?
It is the systems and procedures that ensure a particular set of standards are met, e.g. the production of specifications, training staff, predicting problems so they can be avoided, identifying appropriate quality control points, action plans and Gantt charts, and stock control
What is TQM?
Total quality management
What does TQM do?
Proactive approach followed by management and employees to ensure long-term customer satisfaction .
Everyone in a business is encouraged to take pride in what they do and take responsibility for quality.
◦ External quality standards are often used, e.g. BSI standards, ISO standards, CE standards.
