What’s the ‘one way’ in ‘one way ANOVA’ all about?
It means one independent variable
The assumption is that this variable varies between two groups
When doing fucking ANOVA, what is the specific SS that is essentially just the sum of the SS of each population?
SS fucking WITHIN
When doing fucking ANOVA, what is the specific SS that is the fucking SS of the whole sample?
SS fucking TOTAL
When doing fucking ANOVA, what is the specific SS that is essentially just the fucking TOTAL minus the fucking sum of the SS for each group
the SS fucking BETWEEN
So what exactly is the F statistic?
The ratio of the BETWEEN groups variation / and WITHIN groups variation
Why can’t we use the sum of squares directly to compute the F ratio?
Because it is sensitive to sample size
Whats the df for the WITHIN
N - k
That is - number of participants minus number of groups
What’s the df for BETWEEN
k - 1
That is - number of groups minus 1
What’s the df for the TOTAL
The usual
N - 1
