Slub yarns
A
A slub yarn is usually a single complex yarn. Slub yarns have soft, untwisted areas at frequent intervals throughout their length. They are found in fabrics such as shantung and some linens.

Explain why a fabric woven from slub yarns may not wear well. (3)

Where durability is a main consideration, with slubs yarns where a heavy
yarn maybe protruding above the level of the surrounding yarns is subject to
friction the fabric soon shows signs of wearing at those points after continued
use.
