A system of two or more pulleys that can be used in combination to reduce the effort required to life or move a heavy load

A
A drive belt relies on friction to operate effectively and therefore often made from rubber as it has the ability to grip effectively under appropriate tension
Also be made from rope, cord and steel cable

A
A pulley is a grooved rimmed wheel that is used in conjunction with a drive belt to transfer movement
Like gear without teeth, the pulley is attached to axle and rotated
Friction between drive belt and pulley allows them to rotate together
Uses: lifting and transforming rotational motion into linear
