PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND METRICS Flashcards
What is project management?
Project Management involves various processes that help managers achieve specific goals by organizing, controlling, and executing projects. The main challenge in software project management is to meet project goals while managing scope, time, quality, and cost.
what is a project ?
A project is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service or result.
why is a project temporary?
A project is defined as temporary because it has a defined beginning and end time
characteristics of a project?
start and end point
unique as it has spc op to reach a goal
when end is reached project ends
must meet customer req
what is management spectrum?
people

explain people?
In building a proper product, a well-managed team with clear-cut roles defined for each person/team will lead to the success of the product.
We need to have a good team in order to save our time, cost, and effort.
explain product
the result of the project is a product
The project manager should clearly define the product scope to ensure a successful result, control the team members, as well technical hurdles that he or she may encounter during the building of a product.
explain process
a clearly defined process is the key to the success of any product. It regulates how the team will go about its development
explain project
In this phase, the project manager plays a critical role. They are responsible to guide the team members to achieve the project’s target and objectives, helping them with issues, checking on cost and budget, and making sure that the project stays on track with the given deadlines.
what are types of software measurment
direct and indirect
what is process metrics
The only rational way to improve any process is to measure specific attributes of the process, develop a set of meaningful metrics based on these attributes, and then use the metrics to lead to a strategy for improvement
what is project metrics
Software project metrics are tactical tools used by project managers and teams to adjust workflow and technical activities.
These metrics are first applied during the estimation phase, using data from past projects to estimate effort and time for current tasks.
what is direct measurement?
In direct measurement the product, process or thing is measured directly using standard scale.
what is indirect measurement
In indirect measurement the quantity or quality to be measured is measured using related parameter i.e. by use of reference.
