Q

Prob of Independent Events

A

P(A and B) = P(A) × P(B)

If events A and B are independent, then to find P(A or B), you must add together the probabilities of both events, then subtract out the chance that both occur. In other words, P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) – P(A and B).

Without replacement

Some classic examples of independent events are:
Multiple coin flips/dice rolls
Random selections of items out of a bag
The weather in two distant cities
