Spirit Varnishing
Involves applying a spirit-based coating to produce a high-shine finish.
Cheap but manufacturing process longer.
UV Varnishing
Involves applying a thin coating of liquid plastic, harden it using UV radiation.
Gives a tougher glossier finish but is more expensive.
Laminating
Produces a high gloss finish.
Sealed between two plastic layers.
Twice as expensive as varnishing but quality is a lot better.
Embossing
When a portion of surface is raised above the surrounding area.
Used for two reasons- visual impact, add texture.
Gives an expensive, HQ feel.
Varnishing
Varnishing can protect and improve the aesthetics of the product.
Done after printing but before any cutting, folding or trimming.
Different types of varnishing- oil-based, water based, spirit varnishing, ultraviolet varnishing.
