Define ‘prejudice’.
Having extreme negative or positive thoughts about a group of people.
Define ‘stereotyping’.
A fixed generalisation about a particular group, these thoughts are very often negative and based on limited information.
Describe the ‘affective element’.
To prejudge someone on the basis of their membership to a group and they involve having more than just preconceived ideas about another group, forming an evaluation on them.
Describe ‘behaviour discrimination’.
A set of behaviours towards members of a categorised group which are unfair in comparison to members of other groups.

Saying negative things - hate speech

Segregation - xenophobia

Denying a group certain opportunities/things
What occurs during the 4th stage (physical attack)?
Violence towards a person - hate crime
What occurs during the 5th stage (extermination)?
Extermination of a group - genocide
